A government body asked us to come up with a novel method of measuring the discoverability of local content on music streaming services. To this end, we developed a methodology that, while building on our previous work in the field, is adapted specifically to their use case. A first implementation over a period of 6 months will be followed by the publication of a report, with the aim of replicating the process at yearly intervals.

Measuring the discoverability of local content on a major music streaming service

Recent legislation at the EU and national levels has put pressure on major streaming services to show that not only do they give access to local content, but they also suggest it to their users on the interface.

We measured the prominence of local content on our client's music streaming service and VOD interface. Our study provides an overview of where our client stands with regards to the promotion of local content.

Measuring the prominence of local content on VOD and music streaming interfaces

We reviewed the discoverability of content on an international VOD service, and made recommendations for the improvement of their prominence strategies.

We used data collected on their interface as well as data from other VOD services to perform a comparative analysis and draw conclusions on the effectiveness of their prominence strategy. This allowed the service to improve on its methods and surface the right content to users.
